Hi! I'm Deena, the founder of Guided Pediatric Sleep. Supporting children and families has been at the heart of my work for nearly two decades. For almost 20 years, I worked as a special education teacher supporting children up to age thirteen with a wide range of abilities and skills. Many of my students were non-verbal, had autism, ADHD, cerebral palsy, seizure disorders, and multiple disabilities. I specialized in developing individualized education plans based on each child's unique strengths and needs. Creating sensory calming spaces where students could feel safe and implementing their behavior plans with consistent expectations, were key parts of my job. I especially valued collaborating with families, guiding them through challenges, and helping them feel supported and understood. These experiences shaped my approach to pediatric sleep consulting, where I combine my background in teaching with empathy and evidence-based strategies to guide families.
Becoming a mother deepened my appreciation for sleep and having the right support around me. Being home with each of my two children during their first two years was incredibly meaningful, but also exhausting. I learned firsthand the power of routines and consistency—balanced with flexibility. When families are better rested, moods feel lighter and bodies feel better. It’s easier to focus and move through the day with more patience and energy. Cuddles, playtime, getting outside, and simply being together feel more enjoyable and meaningful.
I believe children are always communicating through crying, words, gestures, or even a look - and it is our job to listen with care while also providing the loving boundaries that help them feel safe. Through gentle guidance and consistency, I help parents teach their children what is best for them, always with the reassurance: I love you when I'm with you, I love you when we're apart and I will always come back.
Guided Pediatric Sleep (GPS) was designed to give families clear direction, confidence and support. Just like a GPS, I guide you step by step as we work together to establish healthy sleep routines for newborns, infants, toddlers, and children. Every plan I design incorporates strategies that fit your child's stage of development and are tailored to your child's unique needs. I also help you build a safe, calming, and comfortable sleep environment as I guide and support you throughout your sleep training journey.
